Heroes, again

Yes, this is my favorite subject. Why do you ask?

I’ve been reading inspirational books by some friends this week. I mean, men who have faith have always fascinated me, because it always seemed like a woman thing (except me, I hate to say mine is not strong.) So I should be thrilled to get this peek inside the heads of men with faith. Only all I can think about is that I don’t know any men like that.

Then, duh, I write firefighters and spec ops and cops who sacrifice themselves for others, and while I am sure they are out there, I don’t know any men like that either.

Why am I more fascinated with the rough and tumble risk takers than with the boy next door? Do we write romance to try to figure out the male psyche? Or do we write to create the ideal man?

Hmmm . . . I don't know. Maybe both? As for why you are more fascinated, as are many of us, with the rough and tumble risk takers, perhaps it's because -- for dramatic purposes -- they work. You know, all that angst ;)

I always think I couldn't do inspirational because I so rarely go to church!! Stupid.

But I have to say, that is an awful pic of Gerard. I know Scotsmen like their Pringle patterns, but seriously!! Sorry Mary :O

LOL on the church thing, Toni. Me, too.

Yeah, I'm running low in the Gerry pictures...this is an oldie.

May have to start on Eddie Cibrian, but there aren't too many of him, either.

Bonnie, when I come up with a hero, I'm trying to figure out what made him become the man he is. I'm the same way with Jack on 24 or Logan on Law and Order - what makes them that type of man?

With these inspirationals, at least so far, there's not much about how he became this way, just that he IS.

I write paranormals with the same feeling that another writer would write an inspirational. :) Long story. :) Blessed be. :)

What is an inspirational? It's not JUST a religiously themed book. For me, it's reading something the author has passion about, that he/she loves more than anything, that he/she is willing to share with the reader. Gotta love that.

My dh is a firefighter paramedic...and I have to say, he is a real hero not just because he has saved so many lives (and he has, countless times), but because over time he has seen it all and lived to tell about it. Sometimes it's been extremely hard for him, and for me. Being married to someone who endures so much is not an easy task at times. But lately, I've seen him be able to open up and become the most HUMAN human being I have ever met...and THAT is what makes him a hero to me. That's the kind of guy I'd want to read about, too.

Mar, I vote for Ewan MacGregor, older pics of Antonio Banderas, and a few others. We need to give all the hottie guys an equal share of our drool. LOL But I will always love Gerard and the Point of No Return.
