Things I'd Like to Forget about 2005

Things I’d like to forget about 2005

1) My cousin’s illness, though she’s on the road to recovery
2) The senseless deaths of my brother’s friends this summer that devastated him
3) The ds getting sent to prison school for having flyers for his band he intended to distribute at school
4) My mother-in-law’s month long illness
5) Katrina’s devastation (I know others who REALLY wish they could forget this)
6) Gas prices
7) The rejection of Hot Shot after 18 months at H/S and the resulting rewrite of the back half.
8) The rejection of Beneath the Surface
9) Not finalling in the first six contests I entered this year
10) Not going to Reno/the brouhaha following the awards ceremony
11) My kids doing so badly on the TAKS test that I had to go back for parent conferences IN THE SUMMER
12) The disagreements I had with not one but TWO webmistresses – I’m really easy to get along with, I SWEAR. But I could not appease one of them, no matter what I said.
13) Tom and Katie
14) Britney and Kevin
15) Jessica and Nick (and that Dukes of Hazzard movie, which was previewed at EVERY MOVIE I SAW this year)

All in all, 2005 was pretty good to me. But what would YOU like to forget?

I have to agree with all your comments Mary! Except I did get to Reno.

I'd like to forget:
Poop! Dog poop, little boy poop!! 2005 seems to have been the year of the poop!

The London Bombs.

All the death and disaster that has permeated the year. The 4 RCMP shot in Alberta, the plane crashes, the earthquakes, that poor 15 year old girl caught in the crossfire in Torronto on Boxing Day, the casualties of the Iraqi war, US and civilian, the wars/famine in Africa...Seems the list is endless!

But personally I've had a good year, no one's been seriously ill, haven't lost any relatives, no crises, no disasters. Here's hoping 2006 is even better for everyone.

Oh, where to start? I love the last three things on your list, too. :)

What I'd like to forget...speaking just personally...

My daughter's suffering before she was diagnosed and received treatment. This past summer was one of the worst I have ever experienced. In fact, I get a little nervous when I try to think back on last year and I cannot seem to recall ANYTHING that happened before June, when my daughter's condition became severe. It's like my brain has been erased of everything else. Good thing I have journals from earlier last year, so I can remind me! (I'd like to take an aside here and say that I am so grateful to Mary for being there for me during that time...I will never forget that, cher...) I'm still not really 100% myself since then. I keep pressing forward, but I am depleted inside. I hope 2006 will help me refill my well with fresh water.

On the other hand...2005 was the year I sold, the year my book was published, the year I got a great new job that works perfectly with my life, the year my Dad went through two scans and was clear of the cancer, the year my Mom got through her surgery and came out great, the year my son really came into his own and went out there and "got a life", the year I saw my daughter recover and restore after so much pain. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Boy, do I relate to that line. Here's to a better 2006 for EVERYONE.

Toni, lol on year of the poop!

And yes on all those news items. My mind is a sieve when it comes to stuff like that.

JoAnn, you have had a helluva year, but look how it ended, and you're swinging that success into 2006!

Things I'd like to forget? Well, I'd say I'd like to forget almost getting divorced by my husband this past summer, but if I did, then we wouldn't be on the mend and a lot better now if that hadn't have happened...

However, I would like to forget my place of employment for the last six months -- it was a very ugly seperation.

Candice, I saw on your blog about your job. I hope this new place works out better.

And there's nothing like nearly losing something to make you appreciate it!

Thanks Mary, and you're right, nearly loosing someone is the quickest way to realize how important they really are.

But the job thing is better -- I'm in a new shop now, and things are looking up.

I'm glad for you, Candice. I hope things continue to go well.

Actually, I don't want to forget anything. What doesn't kill me, makes me stronger. Disappointments, rejections, tears ... etc. They help me in the long run, so when I face them again, the body armor has a bit more steel sewn in for good measure.
