$500, Nora and The Merritt

I spent $500 yesterday. Started at the grocery store ($250 without sodas or much meat or pet food which we have to go get today because it didn't fit in the cart) then Office Max for a phone and pens ($37) then a haircut and my eyebrows waxed ($33 and an hour and 20 minutes!) then lunch ($14) then a new printer, Turbo Tax and blank CDs ($172!)

I'm still shaking!

I saw the Nora Roberts movie finally. Heather didn't do TOO bad of a job, and it was pretty faithful to the book, except the last scene in the book was at one of the hunting cabins, wasn't it? I'm looking forward to Montana Sky. It was my first Nora, and I love John Corbett.

The Merritt only has 4 entries in RS thusfar, and only ten more days!

I haven't entered a contest in so long, I don't even remember. I'd enter the Merritt, but you guys don't have a romantic elements category, or YA. My story is a YA suspense/paranormal w/romantic elements.

I've been writing a lot of near-romance stuff lately, instead of straight romance and I'm having a lot of fun doing it. The freedom is exhilarating because I don't feel so boxed in. I can let the story unfold naturally. IOW, I don't have to worry about how many pages have passed since the Hero and his love interest have been together. The main plot and the hero's journey come first.

There are shopping days like that, aren't there? I just started doing the taxes yesterday. Hate that. :(

Yeah, Tanya, we have a pretty small contest. I think we had a romantic elements category one year but it didn't have many entries at all.

Very cool about your writing! I thought I was going in that direction with Spy Girl and ended up in the opposite direction!

Michelle, I'm dreading the taxes. My records are wadded in a manilla envelope. Gah.
