Stories I wish I'd written

Do you ever see a commercial, or hear a blurb, and think, "MAN, I wish I'd thought of that?" I usually do this with stories that are along the line with what I like to write, so while I DO wish I'd written Harry Potter, or Lemony Snicket, there's not just a real good chance I could've.

LOST is right up my alley. I could never do it the justice JJ is doing it, though.

That movie Coronado that was on the other night, on the Hallmark channel - I wish I'd written that. Of course, that's sight unseen. It may not be anything that I'd like, but the commercials looked good.

Some episodes of Angel, especially the early ones, like where he had to protect the pregnant girl from the demons - I wish I'd written that.

You know, there were a lot more when I came up with this idea.

Is there something out there you wish you'd written?

Good Will Hunting.
That was a well written movie. Oh--Pride and Prejustice--wish I'd written that too :)

I love Nevada Barr's mystery series with heroine Anna Pigeon. I wish I'd thought of the concept since I'm such a national park junkie. Anna is a park ranger, and each book is set in a different national park, so the setting ends up being a character as well.

This series Hex on Sky One. Margaret George's book on Mary Magadalene (still may do my version), Christopher Golden's new Sleepy Hollow series, this new YA by Elizabeth Lenhard, and of course the Princess Diaries. I just want to be Meg Cabot!

Peggy, yes on the love songs! Some of the turns of phrase they use are incredible!

Stacy, was Almost Heaven good? I want to see that.

Toni, oh, yes, to write P&P, all that build-up of tension!

Trish, I read Firestorm. I liked it but it was SAD!

Elizabeth, the only thing I recognize on your list is Meg Cabot. That woman is incredible!

For me, it's more like stories I'd wish I'd gotten a chance to rewrite because what came out was so bad. My current WIP was de-inspired (as I like to say) by the movie "Proof of Life".

I just savor the good stuff and anaylze it to see why I liked it so much and try to apply it to my work.

Firestorm was one of my favorites in the series, Mary. Also really liked A Superior Death.

I'd like to be Evelyn Vaughn when I grow up. She is amazing.

I wish I'd written Harry Potter. All of them. But my little paranormals will have to do!

And you know what...no one else could write the stories WE'VE written, at least not in the same way. We are all unique, true, and have something real to share in our work, that no other person could deliver quite like we can. A good thought, that.

GREAT Gerard pic. Oh. My. Gawd.

Hugs,
J

Oh, yeah, thanks, Colleen. I give you an easy one and you have to give me a HARD one.
