Thoughtful gifts

Today, at two minutes and three seconds after 1:00 the time and date will be 01:02:03 04/05/06.

A little bird sent me my first birthday present this week.

Isn't it AWESOME? Does she know me or WHAT?

This made me think of some of the most thoughtful gifts I've gotten. My friend Cindi got me a gift certificate for a pedicure, and a pair of sandals. (She always buys me clothes I wouldn't think to buy for myself, which the dh loves!) My son buys me things like bird feeders and other garden decorations. One year my dh bought me a bundle of romantic DVDs.

I guess my favorite gifts are the unexpected ones. I'm sitting at my desk here looking at a candle from the president of our chapter, an angel from a dear friend, a set of musical emblem paper clips from a teacher friend. All people who thought of me at a special time.

All from people who "get" me. Isn't it great when that happens?

I've been a bit lazy on the present buying end these days, pretty much sticking to gift certificates. But I do try to match the gift certificate with the person. I plan to make more of an effort, though, of finding a thoughtful gift. Because the thought DOES count.

A couple of great gifts come to mind. When I was getting married, some of my girlfriends got together and got me gift certificates to have my hair, nails and makeup done the day of the wedding. And one Valentine's Day, I walked out to my car to go to work to find the dh had put a stuffed puppy in the driver's seat holding a Three Musketeers bar. Everybody now...awww! :)

What a lovely watch. ;)

Hey Mary - happy birthday!!

Wouldn't the time/date thing happen again in year 2106? Maybe just once a century...

Thanks, y'all! My birthday is the 21st - I'm on the cusp.

Trish, I love that your dh put the stuffed animal in the car! And yes, ISN'T it lovely??

Jessie, AWWW!!!

Sarah, one of my smart aleck kids pointed out that it will happen again next year, at 02:03:04 on 05/06/07. So yeah.

COPY CAT!!!
Now I am not the only one with a Phantom of the Opera watch. Maybe I won't have to guard mine so closely because all those people who covet my watch will now want yours!!
Of course, yours is a ROUND watch and mine is a SQUARE watch. Which is better? To be a square or to be well-rounded????
Happy early birthday!
Diane

LOL, Diane! Well-rounded, maybe, thanks to Little Debbie brownies ;)

Thanks, Toni, Tracy and Candice!
