Hooks in Romance Novels
see more dog and puppy pictures
So Jeffrey Dean Morgan just found out he has a 4 year old son. And they say secret babies never happen in real life.
I've never written a secret baby story because I don't care to write about kids. I do like to write reunion stories (I've done 2 that I can think of) and best friends to lovers stories (written one, want to write another). What are some of your favorite hooks in romance?

You know me...I love to write redemption stories....
Julia
Secret babies happen all the time IRL... I had a friend who'd been married for nearly ten years, was pregnant with their first and her DH got a request for paternity test from an old GF. He found out the kid, now almost a teen, was his. She decided to hit him up for child support (she hadn't bothered to tell him before because she didn't need the money)... so he sued for joint custody.
And won.
Anyway.... lol...
I'm a big friends-to-lovers fan.
Wow. JDM, shame on you! :)
I'm a friends-to-lovers fan, too. It's a common theme in my writing.
Redemption...I think DLB is one of those. I forget about that as a hook.
Marianne, how awful that she didn't tell him because she didn't need the money! What about the poor kid needing a dad? Yeesh.
Natalie, I thought the same about JDM :) I can't wait to work on my next friends-to-lovers story!
