Goals for the FIRST WEEK of Summer Vacation

funny pictures of cats with captions
see more Lolcats and funny pictures

We had a lovely luncheon yesterday to end the school year, and I was home ten minutes later. Today we have a graduation party, and tomorrow, my summer starts! The funny about the luncheon—the computer lab teacher made the slide show, and when she set up the computer, she had a screensaver of Jensen Ackles. LOL! I got her hooked on Supernatural.

Okay, breaking down that big ol’ list from last week.

1) 125 pages of galleys on BD (half)

2) STTA revisions

3) Queen revisions

4) Newsletter

5) Blog for Leah

6) Library

7) Grocery store

8) Day with Mom and BB

9) Promo on email loops

10) Book store visits

11) House cleaning, a room a day, an hour a day

12) Exercise

My Favorite Day

funny pictures of cats with captions
see more Lolcats and funny pictures

Not only is it the last day of a VERY difficult school year, but my whole summer lays in front of me, not one moment wasted yet. Great possibilities ahead.

Problem Child has been very good in class because he wanted a recommendation to be a patrol. I actually think he'll be good at it. Today he said he wanted us all to meet at the park on Saturday, one last day of being together as a class. Kinda sweet, huh?

But then when I was driving home, I saw him and one of his minions running along the main street in front of school (BUSY street) near the highway (running across the access road) so I called their parents. (Yes, I have their numbers programmed in my phone.) Wonder what happened.

Wednesday night a big storm blew through, and I mean BLEW. I'm so glad we had those trees taken down or it would have been bad. BAD. We lost a mountain laurel and other people have split trees and downed branches all around us. Apparently 1/3 of the city, but different parts of the city, lost power. 60 mph winds! Hurricane force! Trippy. But Thursday temperatures didn't break 80, so good payoff.

ANYWAY, I have a busy summer ahead:

1) Galleys on Breaking Daylight, print version
2) revisions on Sunrise (expected next week)
3) revise STTA
4) revise Queen and submit
5) revise Road Trip and submit
6) write a short story for TWRP's new series
7) write a short story for promo for Sunrise
8) get a good chunk of Midnight Sun done

9) work on promo for Surface and my September releases (newsletters, guest blogs, bookstore visits, get back into eHarlequin, etc.)

10) hang out with Mom and BB once a week
11) lunches with Stacy, JoAnn and Linda
12) class reunion the last weekend of July
13) hook up with teacher friends

14) exercise daily
15) read at least an hour a day

I really wish there were less revisions, but....you gotta do what you gotta do.

Goals for Teacher Appreciation Week

I'm promoting Beneath the Surface at Coffee Time this week. Go read an excerpt and comment for a chance to win a gift certificate!

funny pictures of cats with captions

24 days of school. Last year, Teacher Appreciation week was lots of fun, with activities every day. One of the activities was that an aide would stay with the class while the teachers watched a teacher-inspired movie. (We watched Freedom Writers.) We got popcorn and water while we did, and 2 blissful kid-free hours. Not this year, sadly, but we do get free lunch on Wednesday.

1) enter grades so progress reports can go out at the end of the week

2) faculty meeting

3) use my dad’s gift certificate to go out to eat

4) work on short story for Samhain

5) work on Queen

6) start promoting regularly at Coffeetime and elsewhere

7) try not to go crazy with the waiting

8) keep up house and cook more

9) exercise

10) sew?? I have two pieces of fabric, one already cut out!

Goals for the Week of AWESOME (oh please don't take this as an invitation for drama!)

funny pictures of cats with captions
see more Lolcats and funny pictures

Also a crazy week, so I’m dialing back the writing, which makes me feel guilty since I didn’t do a lot last week. I should have finished Queen already, and should be halfway through Midnight Sun, but I cut 3000 words and haven’t made much progress since.

But, this week should (oh please no drama to ruin it) be good:

1) my birthday party

2) my birthday

3) last week of tutoring!!!!!!!!!!

4) Avatar on DVD (Sam!!!!!!)

5) The Losers in the theater (JDM, baby!!)

6) Tahmoh (Helo from BSG) has a new miniseries on Sci-Fi. Almost forgot about that one.

7) Problem Child will be absent Monday, going to the doctor to please God get medication. (I have only ever wanted a child on medication one other time in my career. Trust me that this is a desperate situation.)

8) Revisions on short story for Samhain

9) Finish a round of revisions on Queen, then go through one more time for continuity

10) Fiesta event with mom, BB, SIL and her bff

11) Exercise

12) House

Goals the Week of Traffic Duty

moar funny pictures

Of course you know my traffic duty week would be one of the two full weeks in April. Sigh. At least I get to leave early M, W and F, since I have to be at school earlier.

1) Traffic duty

2) Work on MIL’s house. We’re really mostly done but haven’t been able to get over there since Spring Break.

3) 7000 words on the RS

4) finish revisions on Queen, start revisions on Road Signs (again)

5) exercise (maybe take the dog for walks to appease her need to wander)

6) keep up house (I was really glad I’d been doing this when the police detective came over the other night with not much warning!)

Huh. Not too bad. If I can survive the 7:45-4:15 part of the day!

I have a plan for writing for the rest of the school year--I'm revising VH now, and I'm going to revise my sweet romance after that, while I'm writing the RS. That should carry me the next 9 weeks :)

Goals for the First Week of March

Funny Pictures of Cats With Captions

Usually by now the Texas Mountain Laurels are covered with flowers. This winter has been long and cold, so everything is a bit delayed. I want to get out and work in my yard, but I've been swamped with edits and the MIL's house.

This week:

1) Survive TAKS testing Wednesday—hours of doing nothing but monitoring.

2) Second round of revisions on road trip—came in 5000 words short!

3) New short story—to halfway point.

4) Merritt entry

5) Probably just get Turbo Tax and do my taxes myself. Sigh.

6) Exercise

7) Keep up house

Goals for Last Week of February

funny pictures of cats with captions
see more Lolcats and funny pictures

Poor February. I really don’t mind it. This year it just happens to be at the end of an abnormally cold winter and I’m ready for spring. My poor poor plants. I need to replenish, because I think only 5 survived. Remember that I had something like 19 different hibiscus? Only one survived, it seems. :::SOB::::

This week:

1) Urge the dh to call for an appt to do our taxes (I gathered the paperwork, this is the least he can do.)

2) I seem to be feeling a bit better, so push for the exercise. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been and I hate it.

3) Finish galleys and send back.

4) Finish revisions on Road Signs.

5) Start with my new short story.

6) FOUR meetings at school this week, and tutoring.

7) Get grades turned in. I just need to grade Language Arts, but it has 2 ½ times as many assignments as the others!

8) Score one contest entry.

9) Get the house in order. It’s a mess.

Goals for the Week of Valentine's Day

funny pictures of puppies with captions

Happy Valentine's Day!

The dh and I went to dinner last night, then shopping at Best Buy last night...oh, how I would love one of those plasma TVs. We saw one, a HUGE one, for $900, which was pretty good. Still, we resisted. There are things we need more, like a washer and dryer and a new computer. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a Dell netbook until I can afford a new MacBook. My little pink baby keeps freezing.

This week is a lot of school stuff. Yay.

1) finish edits on short story
2) finish revisions on the road trip story
3) start new short story
4) blog at Samhain and Supernatural Sisters
5) enter Hot Shot in the Daphne
6) faculty meeting
7) order netbook
8) exercise
9) keep up house

I can do it, right?

Photobucket

Goals for the Week Before Valentine's Day

Not too bad this week, I don’t think.

1) 70 pages revised on Road Signs

2) Finish short story

3) Get treats for kids for V-Day. It's a big deal at school, which I just don't understand.

4) Big grocery trip

5) Get stuff together for taxes. Decided to pay someone to do it this year, thanks to MIL’s house and the boy’s college. Also the crying last year.

6) Progress reports

7) Exercise

8) Keep up house

Oh, and I recast the hero in my short story. PERFECT romance hero look, don't you think?

I'm already a little twitchy. What do regular people do?

It's actually quite an easy week--2 days of testing, half day of inservice. And I got new games so I've been bribing good behavior out of my kids with promises of the chance to play.

1) Judge GH entry
2) enter cover contest
3) buy paint for the bedroom
4) paperwork for Samhain
5) clean house

Goals for the Last Week of School Before Christmas Break!!!!

funny pictures of dogs with captions

My neighborhood is pretty quiet, but last night around 4 AM I heard talking outside. Apparently my neighbors had a party and their guests were leaving in the wee hours. I went back to sleep and just got up at 7:30! Late for me.

Yesterday I finished the last of my galleys, so I can focus on WRITING this week!

1) Finish bodyguard book

2) Bake gingerbread cookies

3) update website

4) send out newsletter

5) send home progress reports

6) survive the increasingly hectic days with the kids. Hopefully the weather will be nice enough that they can have recess--they haven't had it since before Thanksgiving!

Goals for the First Week of December

funny pictures of cats with captions
see more Lolcats and funny pictures

Yesterday I: finished my NaNo book, put up my Christmas tree, finished my Christmas cards (just need stamps), baked cookies, bought a present, cleaned my front and back patio, proofread 20 pages and finished up judging the Emily entries.

And yes, napped! The only thing I didn’t do on my goals list from last week was get Cindi’s baby a present, but I plan to remedy that at Borders after breakfast. Then go to the library and maybe go get some poinsettias for the front porch. It's going to get cold this week, too, so maybe a coat for the boy. Or a sweater at least.

1) Update website

2) Galleys on DLB and Surface

3) Work on bodyguard book

4) Outline revisions on road trip book

5) Blog at Supernatural Sisters and Wet Noodle Posse

6) Plan my Christmas around the world unit (wish I kept what I did last year!)

7) Get Cindi’s daughter a bday gift

8) Start tutoring

9) Finish Christmas shopping (or get darned close)

10) House

Hm, not sure whose picture to post. I’m deconstructing the NaNo book, proofreading Surface and DLB (Gerry was the model for both heroes) and getting back into the bodyguard. So it’s a three-fer!
