Not Getting Better

Until last night, I hadn't seen my son since Sunday.
His dog ran away last night and it's my fault. I was so excited that it was a pretty day that I left the front door open, and, well...I didn't even notice she was gone until after dinner, and by then it had been 2 hours. We drove around for over an hour looking for her. The boy is putting up flyers in the neighborhood. I'm just scared she's going to get hit by a car. And no, she's not chipped or anything. I never even thought about it. She's only gotten out a couple of times in 8 years. There's nothing like seeing your 18 year old cry over a lost dog. The guilt is eating me up. I slept maybe 4 hours. So I'm going to leave a little early this AM and drive around some more to see if I see her.

Oh, no, Mary! Did you find him? I'm sure you will, if you haven't already!
Oh, Mary! How sad. Any luck yet?
Thank God my son made flyers and took one to the nearby vet. Around 9:30, I got a phone call (thank goodness it was today and not yesterday, when we couldn't have phones at school.) The vet called to say some lady from our neighborhood had called describing our dog, and within 15 minutes she was home. She's moving a little stiffly now from her adventure, but she's home safe. Thank GOODNESS for that lady!
I knew it would turn out okay, but I'm so relieved!
Thanks, Natalie. I was getting so worried, the longer the time passed. She isn't the most energetic dog, so I couldn't imagine her traveling far. The lady who found her said she was just hanging out in the front yard. I need to find that lady and thank her. I just couldn't get over seeing my big boy cry.
HUGS Mary. So glad she's home. Have a great weekend. You need a spa day!
OH... I'm so glad you found her. It's so hard to lose a pet. Phew.
Thanks, Mary Beth and Marianne! I didn't even know I liked the dang dog so much :) I sure missed her and our routines.
