April Fools Day
When I was in third grade, there was a picture in the paper of the Tower of the Americas (the Space Needle kind of looking thing that makes the San Antonio skyline so neat) with a GIANT bird, a kind of vulture, I guess, sitting on top of it. I remember going to school and ALL the kids were talking about it, really freaked out. What was this giant bird going to do? Where had it come from? WERE THERE OTHERS?
Our very patient teacher, Ms. Dubois, explained that it was an April Fools joke.
These days, all I get are, "Mrs. Fechter, you have something on your cheek/in your hair/your shoe's untied."
What was the best April Fools joke you've ever heard? Did you buy it?
Here are some good ones: Top 100 April Fools Jokes
I finished Hot Shot revisions yesterday, including the synopsis. I've got to hit the grocery store today, do some walking, cleaning and reading for some friends, then it's back into DLB.
He's saying, "I'm back!"

Congratulations on the revisions, Mary! It's a good feeling, isn't it?
As for April Fool's Day, I HATE it. My least favorite "holiday" ever. I go around the whole day, not believing anything I hear or read. Hate that. I'm just glad it fell on a Saturday, so I don't have to deal with the pranksters at work. ;)
Congrats on the revisions!
I remember April's Fools newspaper stories as a kid, but nothing that I can recall specifically. And I remember little boys trying to pull really stupid stuff. No imagination. :-)
Yeah, Mary! Best of luck with Hot Shots!
I fell for an April Fool's prank on the radio in Houston last year. It was male and female co-hosts who were such a blast to listen to (even gave me an idea for a story!). But, that day, the girl said she was planning to pose for Playboy - they'd approached her about women in radio.
I remember being so surprised and disappointed for her that I wrote an email to the station, and the producer of the show (who seemed to have a crush on her) was totally upset, her sister called in upset.
Next day - found out it was all a joke. Pretty crazy! :)
Thanks for the congratulations - I'm not celebrating till I hear from Emily, though.
I hate April Fool's Day, too. Wicked holiday. I'm glad there's no school today, too. April, you're right, no imagination - they rarely outgrow that, too!
Sarah, that's a funny prank! A friend of mine's daughter just called her and told her she was pregnant, waited till the mom got all upset, then said April Fool's. That's cruel.
I'm not a huge fan of April Fool's, but once my class all switched shoes with each other (wearing one white, one brown, eg) and when the special ed. teacher walked in to do her lesson, the kids all propped their feet on their desks. It was a cute, harmless joke.
That's clever, Michelle, and took some thought!
