I've never heard of it, so forgive me if I seem rude.
It just sounds like a infomercial online trying to sucker readers into buying some bogus stuff.
I could be wrong.
:)
I meant writers, not readers.
I'm speechless . . .
Many things could be said about the content of the advertisement but I bet this part would shock and offend a lot of authors who worked their a**** off to get published:
"Talk about frustrated...I was! I desperately wanted to write my romance novel and get it published, but dang it! Why was it so hard for me, when, apparently, it was so easy for all these published authors I was meeting and talking to?" {:0
Finally, after 25 years, she got published!
With DiskUs.
A book of poetry.
Unless she's another Tina Adams, whose books I can't find anywhere. I found her Amazon profile, which has an avatar of the how-to book cover but no mention of the romance novel she had such great success with that she can back up this program she's selling for a "mere" $200.
I think we've all been around the block enough times to realize there is no magic formula. Maybe a product like this can help you create a bland romance that someone, somewhere might buy. Dunno. But you can bet your sweet bippy it won't create a complex, beautiful book you'll be proud of for the rest of your life.
Steph
Definitely reads like an infomercial - all the exaggeration/hyperbole, and the "10-days only" sales tactic.
Natalie - I'm glad you looked her up because that was my first thought - where are all these great romance books she's had published?
It might be a useful tool, but not for $200 - and not with that kind of false guarantee attached.
What's sad is that there are writers out there who may plunk down the money thinking this really is the "secret" to getting published.
Found out more about Tina Adams:
She wrote the eBook A Journey Unto Wisdom
She runs the Wax Romantic website.
She runs the Fiction Today website
It sounds like she's quite the businesswoman, but not such a great author.
And the authors that she quotes are hardly Nora Roberts.
I feel bad for the folks who get suckered.
My first thought was that published authors would be offended, too.
I think she really has a system to sell, but she can't guarantee it will work.
The other thing that struck me is that a successful author needs to have one book a year, but she wanted to have time with her family, so she wrote the book in...3 days?? She clearly does not have my ambition ;)
Natalie, interesting - a book of poetry. Hmph. BUT, to be devil's advocate, Debra Dixon and Tami Cowden have great how-to books and not a lot of books on the shelf.
Stacy, I think you've nailed it - she's found a money maker. I wonder how many people believe this is just what they need.
Bosey, EXACTLY - where's the love of writing here, the love of story???
I'm really really curious, though, even though I don't even read the how-to books I have!
the other interesting thing is she talks about the AOL writing community, which I used to be a part of, and I'm wracking my brain trying to remember if I was there when she was.
Oh, but the best part is the disclaimer:
No promises of any kind are being made! Your results may vary. The results mentioned on this site are not typical. Use of the course is at your own risk.
Neither Tina Adams nor WriteARomance.com guarantees you will write your romance novel in 3 days. Whether or not you, specifically, are able to write your novel in 3 days once you've read the course depends completely on you and your skill, your determination, your stamina and your ability to type.
The authors who gave testimonials did so after evaluating the material for themselves.
Remember, use of this course is at your own risk. LOL
amazing what people will do for the almighty buck..

I think the difference between Deb Dixon and this gimmick is the price, and the implied guarantee. Deb Dixon, or any legitimate self-help book, would never tell you that all it takes is a formula instead of hard work and continual growth.
Good point about the difference between this and Deb Dixon, Sarah. I've just always kind of wondered why she and Tami have come up with these great programs that help us out and don't have more books themselves.
Is that sacrilege?
Charity, yeah, $200 at your own risk! Sheesh.
I wonder how many of the "books" sound alike. Could plagiarism happen as a result of this?
Ooh, good point, Michelle!
Also, Deb Dixon and Tami Cowden don't use their fiction success as selling points to their how-to books, and don't ever say it's easy and just fill in the blanks and their books incorporate 20 years of learning ALL there is out there to learn.
Another good point, Natalie.
I do wonder if Dixon and Cowden put all their energy in their how-tos, as well.
OMG, mary, I KNOW TINA ADAMS!!!! You'll have to email me off-loop for those juicy tidbits, though.
Trish, who knows ALL!
