Season Premiere Week

Season premiere week is here! This was always something I looked forward to as a child. We’d get the TV guide at the store ahead of time (the only time we’d ever buy it.) We’d pore over it, see what looked good, make a plan. We’d eat early dinners those nights, take early baths and convene in the living room in front of the TV, sometimes with popcorn, sometimes caramel apples, sometimes just caramels. I don’t know why I remember it being cooler – it’s never cool in September in Texas. But I just remember the coziness, and the way my mom made it an Event.

I continued the tradition into my adult life, but season premiers became more scattered. BUT, this week is a big ‘un. We have Desperate Housewives, Las Vegas and Lost returning. I’m checking out Surface, and Bones (though I wasn’t mad about the first episode.) I want to see E-Ring, but it’s opposite Lost. Then there’s Invasion after Lost, and Night Stalker, but that premiers next week, I think, after Alias.

Other than that, I don’t know about many new shows. What are you looking forward to? What have you heard great things about?

And how long do you give a new show before you decide if it’s going to be a regular date for you?

If only these books were out the door so I could relax and enjoy!

I haven't watched episodic television in so many years I can't even tell you how long it's been. Maybe since STTNG. I just can't get excited about any of these shows, I dunno why. I'm sure it has something about sitting in a dark video edit bay most days, but that isn't all of it. It could have something to do with being so attached to the internet that I'm usually glued to a computer screen instead of the TV. (Something which I'm definitely going to do something about soon).

ER. That's it when I'm writing :( I tend to catch up on reruns, but we now have an eigth track thingy recorder so I guess if I were smart I'd figure it all out and tape some shows huh??

I don't watch a lot of TV anymore...only a handful of shows. But I remember premiere week when we were little, Mar. It was a BIG deal at our house, too! I miss those kinds of things.

My daughter is hooked on LOST, Scott is hooked on all the Friday night Sci-Fi shows, my son has his favs on Comedy Central...so our DVR gets a workout, taping everything everyone wants. What do I tape? Only two shows. Rescue Me during its summer run, and...okay, I admit it, Charmed. I've been watching that show for years, and I still watch it.

The only show I watched last year with any regularity was NCIS -- and I'm dying for its season opener (did they really kill off Kate?).

For new shows, Ghost Whisperer and Criminal Minds look interesting.

Still...hubby has control of the remote, so I'm not sure what I'll be seeing.

I have to admit to TiVo-ing Animal Cops on Animal Planet, though. That's my one guilty pleasure...

So looking forward to LOST. But bummer on it being opposite E-Ring. I hadn't realized that. Crap. I want to see Commander in Chief with Geena Davis. Need to figure out when that premieres. I was a huge West Wing fan for a long time.

New shows that I've already seen: I enjoyed Bones, but loved Threhold. That'll definitely be a don't miss show for me. Looking forward to Criminal Minds, and E-Ring.

I'm already hooked to this season's Survivor.

Returning shows I'm looking forward to: Cold Case, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, CSI: Miami, NCIS, Lost, Veronica Mars, Law & Order, CSI, Alias, Smallville, and Without a Trace.

Yes, I'm a TV junkie. *g*

Oh, I forgot about NCIS - the teacher across the hall FREAKED out on that season finale. When does that start up again?

Gina, I didn't realize you were in TV, too. My dh splits the difference, laptop on lap, one ear tuned to TV. I must say, Lost is pretty phenomenal, though.

Toni, I haven't seen ER in years. It really was depressing for awhile, so I haven't seen it since Carter and Luka were in Africa. As for the recorder - I really, really want one of those.

JoAnn, must I again say what you're missing with Lost. It's amazing. And Sawyer.....sigh. My dh watches all the Friday Sci-Fis, too.

Hi, Marianne! Ghost Whisperer - that's with Jennifer Love Hewitt, right? When does that one start?

Trish, I watched West Wing on DVD this summer - the last episode I saw was where Zoe was kidnapped. It is incredible writing, but you have to pay attention. The Geena Davis show doesn't really pull me, and I'm trying to limit TV time, so I think I'll give that one a pass.

Tori, I've heard amazing things about Threshold, but the dh has the TV Friday nights. Who's in that one? Is that the one with Carla Neggers?

The other one that looks good, though I've limited my police shows, is Killer Instincts.

I heard about Commander In Chief (love the premise) and Threshold. But maybe I'll watch the ones I already fell in love before: Alias, Gilmore Girls, Desperate Housewives (what can I say, I like charismatic women who can take charge!)

You know, I never got into Desperate Housewives. I watched a couple of episodes, but the bit about the lady who killed herself (and left her son, who looks JUST like my brother) bothered me too much.

I hope Sydney quits whining on Alias this year. She was on my last nerve last year.

NCIS starts, um... tomorrow night (Tuesday).

Threshold stars Carla Gugino and Brent Spiner.

Ohh, NCIS is opposite Bones....

And Carla Gugino...I don't know. She rubs me wrong.
