Isolation

So, as I was working on my WIP and thinking about that idea that my dh gave me, I realized something. My heroes are usually very isolated, either by choice or by circumstance. Gabe was betrayed, has isolated himself. Adrian was betrayed, has isolated himself. Del was betrayed, has isolated himself. Huh. I sense a theme.

I forgot what I meant to say about Black Rose. After listening to Nora's chat from the conference, I see a lot of Nora in the heroine. It's kind of cool. Black Rose is more women's fiction than romance - there hasn't been much interaction between the h/h. It's still good.

Well, we've got 8 hours to go today, so better get started!

Mar, I'm so glad you're posting. I know this trip is long and tiring, but what an adventure. Gotta be stuff you can put in a book somewhere!

Isolated heroes...hmm. My last hero was isolated, and I think he was the first of that kind that I've written. It's usually my heroines who have had too much to deal with internally...except, in my last book, where my heroine was pretty much able to deal, and thereby help the hero (I did identify with Selene, a LOT...did you think she was like me, Mar?). In this new book, there are two men, both deeply flawed in different ways. The heroine has to change and evolve in order to know which man is the one for her...and that is, the one who grows into an ability to change and evolve along WITH her. Hmm. I'm trying to see what themes are in my work...this is a good exercise.

Where are you now? Thinking about you every day, and wishing well for you with all good energies.

I'm reading BLACK ROSE, too, and I agree it being more Women's fiction. I can see how Nora would put a lot of herself in the character, she usually writes about younger heroine's, so this has been refreshing and different.

Glad you're enjoying the book :)

I have noticed the same things about my characters, they tend to have similar issues. I think of it as free therapy for me cause I guess I must be putting my issues on my characters.

I haven't read Black Rose yet, but it's on my to-be-read list. :) I love Nora's work.

Hey, guys! We were out at Lake Wilkins in MN for 3 days, so couldn't post. Starting for home tomorrow.

JoAnn, yes, I saw a lot of you in Selene! Your new story sounds great.

I finished Black Rose today - it was awesome! I'll start Anna DeStefano's Superromance on the road tomorrow.
