Inventions for Writers

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

As writers, we have a lot of tools to help us: the computer, the flash drive, the laser printer, the Alpha Smart, the voice software, light-up pens. I have most of these things.

But I would pay GOOD money for a waterproof notebook and pen to hang in the shower. My son might even buy it for me, since I’m forever running out of the bathroom, still dripping, and shoving him off the computer to write down the ideas that hit me in the tub.

What would you invent for writers, if you could?

Oh, and check out this blog - too funny! Sum of Me

And here's the waterproof notebooks Toni was talking about, I think. Rite in the Rain

Peggy, YES on jumping into the shower in the middle of the day. The dh just gives me this look when I walk out and say, "I know what to do." Is it the running water, do you suppose, or the pounding on the brain?

NO idea about the next big thing bit. Was just looking for new pics.

You can get waterproof notebooks. I used to used them all the time for making fieldnotes in the pouring rain while covered in fish gunk. Believe me, I know :)

I'd invent a publishing industry that didn't require agents LOL--Toni

Really, Toni? What did you write on them with?

Hmm, it would a box about 8 feet x 8 feet, just enough for a small stand for my laptop, a chair and me sitting down. No one could penetrate this box when I locked it to keep out those nefarious people who take joy in interrupting writers. ;)

PS congrats on the PASIC final! Woo-hoo!!

Mar, I'd invent a computer program that would beep and say in a robotic voice, "implausible, implausible!" when I typed something in an ms that didn't quite work! LOL

This is an interesting question. I'm going to have to think on this. Maybe an automated driving device since I do a lot of my plotting in the car.

Oh, or something that when I'm just sitting at my desk and staring into space because I'm actually trying to decide if my hero held my heroine a certain way would it be feesible for his hand to be right there. . . . And when my boss walks by and catching me it won't look like I'm just really spacey. (This last one happened today.*g*)

Teresa, what a hoot!

Stacy, LOL on the walking desk idea!

Mary - I'd like some kind of thought writing. I press a button and my thoughts automatically appear on the page. Jill

Jill, I was actually thinking along the same lines - except I want a plug to go into my brain, kinda like plugging into AlphaSmart.
