Getting ready for a houseguest

So, the dh is fixing the floor in the kitchen, the one ruined by the leaking skylight (which was repaired 6 months ago), the floor which has been exposed for OVER A YEAR. We have not had people over because of the white trash plywood floor in OVER A YEAR. Thank God Trish is coming or it would never be fixed.

He’s pulling up broken tiles, and the sound is like nails on a chalkboard, swear to heaven. Driving me out of my mind. They wonder why I turned off the TV – not like I can HEAR it, right?

This weekend will be spent cleaning and doing laundry. I’ll be dusting places I haven’t dusted in years. I’ll be boxing up papers that I don’t know what to do with otherwise. I bought new towels but couldn't find a new welcome mat or sheets I liked.

I really want to buy a new faucet for the bathroom, but that might be pushing the dh a little too much.

So what do you do to get ready for a houseguest? You know, in case I forgot something?

Well, I'm relieved to know I'm not the only one who's been walking on a cement floor for about a year. The dh pulled the carpet up - I can't wait for tile. Or laminate. Or stained cement. Or something : )

Trish - up for a visit?

Clean the baseboards. Yes, guests look. I know I do. Have a great time with your houseguest!!

:::makes note to self - don't have Dana as a houseguest:::

Yikes, the baseboards? You're tough.

I live with eight cats, two dogs, three children, my mother and my sister. We're lucky if you can still tell the tiles on the floor are supposed to be white.

And to answer the original question, we don't have houseguests if we can avoid it. We don't even have enough bedrooms for the people who live here permanently.

LOL--I panic. Clean everything, especially the toilet (I have a 3 year old), wash, air everything out, bake stuff for the freezer so we don't have to cook, and clean some more :0

Really relaxed person, that's me :)

Okay, Dana, love ya, but I'm with Paula - three cats and a dog and....anyway, I'll do my best ;)

Pretty much right now I'm shoving stuff in boxes and closets ;)

I have OCD with organization. I can't help it. Maybe one day I'll get over it.

You can blindfold me if you want, then ask me over, ok? I have NO sense of smell, so I can't detect anything with my eyes covered.

Ack! Quit cleaning so much. I swear, I'm not going to inspect your house. :)

LOL, Jill. How about I just do a WNP tour and visit everyone? :)

LOL, Dana!

Trish, the house is a bit of a mess right now, so believe me that it's imperative I clean. But I think it won't be too bad.

I'm debating the rug in the guest room, though....

Uh, the fridge will remain as it is, Olga ;) We're going out to eat!

Couldn't find sheets I liked, so just have to make the bed in the guest room, clean the floors and bathrooms and straighten up! I've got three days - I can handle that!
