Most Pages?
The Deadline Hellions were talking about this last week. What is the most pages you've written in one day?
I know JoAnn and Michele have both written over 100 pages in a week - JoAnn because the book was requested and Michele to finish her book before the Christmas party, where she won over $100 in our Invest in Yourself drawing.
What I want to know is, what's the most you've written in a day?
Why did you put yourself under that pressure?
Was it any good?
How did the rest of your writing week go? Did you use up all your mojo?
I think my best has been 27, during a book in a week challenge, and frankly, I don't remember if I even kept it.
Okay, off to the dr....no, not THIS doctor.

I think it was 20 pages and I wasn't under any pressure, just got into a groove. In fact, the book only took me 3 mos. to write. Now it molders on the hard drive. It's a sequel and I'm not sure what to do to sell it.
I think maybe 25 pages. Doesn't seem to be a time thing--just a groove thing like Rene says.
I've written lots of pages in a day, but I don't know how many. I wrote my thesis in two weeks and it was 300 pages.
When I write lots of pages in a week, I do end up tossing lots of them, but the ones I keep are often some of the best in the book. I can never write a lot of pages at the beginning of the book. But by the middle if I get in a groove, I can.
I want to get in a groove.....
I honestly can't remember why I did it, but I'm pretty sure my max for a day was 27 pages. I do remember my brain was fried when I finished for the day.
I think I've done between 20 and 40 pages on my best days. And yes, I was in a rightous groove when I did that 100-page run. Right now my average seems to be 2-5 pages a day (which I'll gladly take!)
My record was 26 pages. Only because I swore to myself that I would finish the book THAT DAY and I thought I only had 10 left. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
I'd say I kept about 50% of them. Had to cut some, tweak others. In the end, I wouldn't do it again. :/
I think it was 20 some pages :)
My best is 57 pages in seven hours. I was on retreat, it was the first three chapters of I book I'd been dying to write, and I finished jazzed and energized.
I've had plenty of 20- to 30-page days, and I'm hoping those will be the norm come fall, when the kids are in school. I can write 10 pages in about 40 minutes when it's flowing okay, about an hour and a half when it's resisting.
NATALIE!!! 57!!!! How much did you keep?
10 pages in 40 minutes???
I'm not worthy!
Interesting that most of us have the same personal best. The most I've been able to write consistently is about 12 pages a day, but 7 pages a day is more my norm.
Hey mary, email me at eccentricauthor@yahoo.com. Need to talk of hometown drama.
Grr...
Most for me was 40 -- I did it because the book was requested, and surprisingly, I didn't have much rewriting to do. That mss is the one that got me an agent and I wrote the entire 570-page ms in 4.5 weeks! Obviously, the book was inside me, dying to be written!
Now, since then, production has been pathetic with a capital P...

AHEM, MRS. Bose!!! Are you not on your honeymoon????
But can I say, OMG - 570 pages in less than 5 weeks???? You must have been blind!
Mary, I kept most of it. There was some editing, but it was streamling and filling, not removing big chunks.
Now, Stephanie, THAT'S incredible!
