What I Did Yesterday
I was sitting out back in my Adirondack chair reading one of my cps' pages for Saturday and looking at my philodendron and my begonia, sitting next to each other in a permanently shady part of my porch. And I started thinking about moving things around. The next thing I knew, I was on the phone with my mom, queen of HGTV. I told her I needed a redesign. I don't think the words were out of my mouth before she said, "OKAY!" She and Baby Brother were here in half an hour. And stayed for two and a half. (Thank God my step dad called and asked what we were doing for lunch - we sent him to McD's!) We worked hard. I wish I had before pictures.
My new office:
Another sitting area:
My new dining room (if only I could get the guys to eat out here without complaining about skeeters):
And remember a few months ago, I blogged about my aunt Beverly? This is her with her daughter Jennifer. I got to see her this weekend at Jen's shower.

What a beautiful porch! I love all the plants.
Thanks, Kelly! My mom was freaking out - "We are NOT going to the nursery, no matter how you beg!"
This morning I planted 5 of my mini roses in the ground instead of pots. Less crowded now. And I gave some of my geraniums a trim.
That's a gorgeous office, Mary! As for skeeters, have you tried Bt bricks?
I've never heard of Bt bricks. What are they?
What an inspiring little spot! Beautiful!
Steph
Thanks, Steph! We didn't take into account the sprinklers when we arranged it, so I'm sitting at the table today, doing critiques.
Wow, Mary. It looks gorgeous and relaxing and serene. What a green thumb you must have. I'll remember to ask you when I have gardening questions.
Enjoy. It looks wonderful.
I'm bringing my laptop to join you. It looks great. Let me know what else I need to bring: snacks and such. hehe
Your new office is lovely, Mary :)
Colleen, if you look closely, you'll see I only have a few different kinds of plants. My favorites are hibiscus, so I have a bunch in different colors. I have a few geraniums, mini roses and....moss rose. Those don't look so hot.
Dana, come on down! Hot now, though, so I'm in till the evening.
Thanks, Bonnie!
Thanks, Stacy! It finally got too hot around 6 - how strange!
Mary, it's gorgeous. But when do you find time to water all those flowers???? And what do you do with them during the winter? I'd love to have lots of plants, but they're so much work.
Thanks, Pam! It only takes me about 10 minutes, max, to water the plants. I do it every day, usually first thing in the AM or last thing in the PM. They're spoiled right now - I don't think my mom will be as attentive when she's taking care of them when I'm in Atlanta!
And it doesn't get too cold down here, so I may throw a sheet over them on nippy evenings, but that's it. Some of my geraniums are years old - I had one at my old house, and I've lived here 7 years.
Enjoyed a lot!
