I Need New Music

Forgot how much paperwork is at the end of the year. I have to fill out 6 pages per child this week, not including grades (which are mostly done, to be fair.) Gah.

I met my writing goals, which is good since I spent the evening looking for blogskins.

I have Benjamin Button and New in Town coming from Netflix. Boy, how different, right?

And I need new music. I haven't bought any music since the Veronica Mars soundtrack I bought last summer. I'm listening to a 10 year old Nine Inch Nails album because the song from the Terminator trailer is stuck in my head. I don't even know what I'm in the mood for. Something sexy, I think, intense. What are you listening to?

Goals

Crossin bridge to holy grail, BRB!

I slept till 8!!!! I was just telling Trish I can't sleep in, well, there you go.

I wrote 21 new pages yesterday on my cowboy story. That's 1/5 of the book! I haven't even really gotten to my internal conflict yet! I also bought some songs on iTunes - Dwight Yoakum, Brad Paisley, Jo Dee Messina and that "Ain't Goin Down til the Sun Comes Up" song, but not by Garth Brooks. Now I'm looking for slow and romantic.

Okay, goals for this week:

1) 80 more pages on rodeo story
2) work on Vanished revisions
3) Go to RODEO - research, of course ;)
4) get progress reports out
5) tutoring
6) faculty meeting
7) keep up house

First, LOST (SPOILERS!!!!):

SPOILERS!!!!!

Man, was that a confusing opening! Was the off-island stuff flashbacks or flashforwards? I can't believe what they found, whole, and that they showed it on the news! I thought it was going to be the place where Charlie died. I kinda liked Miles in all his snarkiness. But I couldn't explain that episode for anything.

Supernatural ROCKED, so hard. MAN, that was a great episode. How funny was Sam? Adorable! And GOOD for Dean, in the end, but really, his dad DID care if he lived or died, right? John died in his place and went to hell.

I switched country radio stations yesterday because in 4 days I only heard one song I liked. Well, I had 3 by the time I got to school! And when I took the boy to a friend's play, I enjoyed all the songs I heard on the way home. The only thing is that the first radio station has a list of songs played for the whole day and the new radio station only has them listed for an hour. Still, surprising how much better the music.

I was surprised to find out this was Carrie Underwood (the song starts about a minute into the video):

Kris had sent me this song before, but I heard it yesterday AM and almost drove off the road. If you go to YouTube, you'll see the real video and it's a hoot. The ds and I watched the Austin City Limits with Brad Paisley and thought he looks like Milo Ventamiglia.

Then there was a Mark Wills song that I found the video for but embedding was disabled. And I thought this song was fun.

Okay, got to get to work before I go to work ;)

So I'm up at 4 after not sleeping well...I'll get some work done on Hot Shot since I'm up. I'm a day ahead of schedule on that, and on the Vanished revisions. At about 8 last night, at Baby Brother's bday, I started jonesing to write on StTA, but was too tired when I finally got home. I haven't worked on it in DAYS.

I should have gone to the grocery store yesterday but I didn't want to so now I have to stop this AM. I did go to Academy to get the boy new shoes and found 3 new blouses. The most expensive one was $13! So my last SIX tops have come from Academy, because that's the only clothing store I go to!

I'm almost done with PS I LOVE YOU and it's REALLY good, more like the movie than I thought, though Daniel and William seem to be the same person in the book. I have a feeling I won't like the end as well, though.

Okay, the dh is in a country/punk band, which means they take country drinking songs and play them like punk songs. So the dh is listening to Outlaw Radio for "homework." Now that I'm going to write a rodeo story, I need to start doing "homework," too. Sadly, I don't have much reference for country music. (SAD for a girl who grew up in San Antonio!) I've heard the Third Coast radio show is good, but the dh suggested my hero might be more of a Red Dirt music fan, which is more country/rock. Neither of these things mean anything to me.

I'm thinking my 25-26 year old hero might be into more modern country music and maybe my heroine, a kindergarten teacher, isn't into country music at all. She's older than him by about 10 years (maybe 8). But they will be going dancing, and I need some good dance music. I should just hang out a day at YouTube, see what pops. Got any names for me to try?

Music

I wrote 10 new pages on BD yesterday and typed in 3 pages of Ghost Hunters.

I know I've blogged about this before, but the reality of it hit me yesterday. Toni had this video on her website.

I love this song, and listened to it again and again when writing Spy Girl. So when I heard it on Toni’s blog, I immediately itched to write Spy Girl! The song put me right back in the story.

I’d done this before with my single mom story, listened to Hope Floats and some, um, previously popular star, over and over again, and when I heard those songs, I was instantly in the story!

I have soundtracks for most of my books, but not BD. I tried making one, but I just don’t find the right fit.

What are some songs that inspire you? Do certain songs reflect certain themes, for instance, a love scene? I played "She Brings Me Love" over and over again while I wrote the scene in Ghost Hunters. "Black" by Pearl Jam is another good one.

What songs inspire you?
