Valley of Silence
Okay, I mentioned earlier in the week that Valley of Silence was irritating me. I didn’t like the Geall setting, thought it was silly. I mean, it was almost like historical Ireland except for the dragons, so why not just set it in historical Ireland? And I didn’t particularly like Cian, the hero in this book. Not that he was a vampire, but he was just…unrelateable.
But. The last half of this book ROCKED. LOTS of action, LOTS of emotion (I cried in the middle of jury duty, y’all.) A surprising amount of sex for Nora. And the resolution – DAMN. If I could come up with one half as good for any of my books….
So yeah – reading Morrigan’s Cross was worth it to get to the last 150 pages of this trilogy. And Dance of the Gods was really good, too.

The second book, "Dance of the Gods" was absolutely the strongest book of this series. The first book - UGH - I forced myself through the first hundred pages, but was finally satisfied. The third book, well... so-so, but I have to agree that I balled like a baby, too, so she must have done something right.
All in all, though, IMHO this was her weakest series yet. Darn.
The book so strong that it would make me cry is a good book for me. I don't remember the last book that could make me cry. How did jury duty go?
See, now I liked the third much better than the other two. I never identified with the Heroes/heroines in the first two. I loved Cian though - he was worth plodding through the first two books to get to. However, he didn't "click" with me until the romance really kicked up in the book - he was really closed off and then bam, opened up right away. That threw me, but I still enjoyed it.
I reread the ending a few times. ;) I thought it was great, although the whole battle scene was eerily reminiscent of the final battle scene in Lord Of The Rings.
Marianne, the second book was my favorite, too, even though I don't really like shapeshifter books. The last half of Valley was really good, though.
Elisabeth, I agree Cian didn't click for me till the romance, but that ENDING!!!
Olga, I got out at 2:30 - only one panel of 32 people was called all day! So I got in some Christmas shopping before I had to pick up my son!
I could barely make it through the first book. The second was good, but I was antsy for the third the whole time I was reading it.
I loved the third book.
Simply loved it.
Tawny!!! Howdy!!!
So you liked Cian all the way through the series and were looking forward to his story? I mostly was looking forward to the battle, but I was pleasantly surprised by the romance.
