Weird Things You Eat

The other night on Twitter, agent Colleen Lindsay wanted to know why anyone would eat Miracle Whip on purpose. She got a flurry of responses from Southerners who eat it all the time.
I started thinking about weird things I’ve eaten repeatedly, and liked.
I like Miracle Whip on my black-eyed peas.
I eat ketchup on my scrambled eggs.
My mom used to make this “salad” with pineapple slices, grated cheddar cheese and Miracle Whip. My step-uncle would make fun of us, but it was GOOD.
When we were growing up, and didn’t have something sweet to eat, we’d spread butter on white bread and sprinkle sugar on it for bread, butter and sugar sandwiches.
My baby brother grew up eating mayonnaise sandwiches. I think it was Miracle Whip on white bread.
My friend Denise eats ketchup on her macaroni and cheese.
What weird food combinations do you eat?

RE: Miracle Whip... YUCK. Just saying.
:::shivers:::
Hmmm... weird stuff? I don't know if I do. Mayo on my artichokes? I dip hard pretzels in mustard. I like my fries with blue cheese dressing instead of ketchup.
Peanut butter and Fluff sandwiches are big here in New Hampshire. I'd never heard of "Fluff" until I moved here, let alone had it on a sandwich.
Can't think of anything else... probably too squicked out by the whole Miracle Whip thing.
*G*
I don't know if it qualifies as weird but I would mix sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle it on buttered toast. Yummm...
My favorite was a peanut butter and grated white chocolate sandwich. We used to be able to buy the white chocolate by the block, like a hunk of cheese, at one particular grocery store. Yum.
Okay, I have to go with the YUCK on Miracle Whip crowd. For me it has to be Hellman's or forget it.
A bunch of teachers I work with do the mustard on pretzels thing, Marianne.
Kelly, I LOVE cinnamon sugar toast. MJ, we used to do the butter sandwiches sometimes as kids too.
Stacy, yours sounds like an ad for how Reeses candy was invented.
Nothing I eat sounds particularly weird to me. The weirdest thing I can remember from my childhood was the way my father made toast on the gas burner. He'd stick a long fork through the bread and then toast it over the flames until it charred. Then we'd slather it with butter. YUM. Loved that charcoal-y taste.
My mother gets my weirdest vote for the times I used to see her put butter on her pizza.
Wow, I really had no idea Miracle Whip was a regional thing! I buy it more often than mayonnaise. In fact, I don't know how old I was when I had mayonnaise the first time!
What is Fluff? Like marshmallow cream?
Kelly, that sounds good, actually....
Stacy, that's interesting--wonder who came up with that? Kinda reminds me of the flavored peanut butter we used to have back when I was a kid--Koogle or something? Anyone remember that?
Mustard on hard pretzels or soft? And butter on pizza? Bleh! I like ranch dressing :)
Peanut Butter and dill pickles. YUM!
LOL, Mary Beth! How did you come up with that?
I don't know that Miracle Whip is regional. We had it everywhere I've ever lived, but I never liked it. Now, some of the stuff y'all are saying you PUT it on, maybe that's regional. LOL
Cinnamon toast is not weird. Nor is mustard on pretzels. Every ballpark in the country offers that. :)
The weirdest thing I can think of that I do (rarely) is strawberries dipped in sour cream and brown sugar. But that isn't freaky, like dill pickles and peanut butter. ;)
That strawberry thing sounds good, Natalie. I wonder if being raised on MW is what's regional, though. I don't think I had mayonnaise until I was a teenager.
