Cars
I have been a car enthusiast for as long as I can remember. Does anyone remember the little fortune telling game you’d play with your friends, where you’d fold the paper, then stick your fingers in it? You’d either have colors or numbers that you’d choose, and it would tell you what kind of car you’d have, and who you’d marry?
I was always very specific on the cars – usually based on the cars Charlie’s Angels drove.
My brother is a muscle car guy. The first car he bought was a 1968 Pontiac Firebird. In 1989.
He later sold it to pay for his wife’s college. She promised to buy him a new one.
I love Dean’s car in Supernatural, a 1967 Chevy Impala.
Or Angel’s, a 1967 Pontiac GTX. Only his is black.
My personal preference runs to classic SUVs, like Keanu Reeves’s car in Speed. Was my heart broken when he left it on the street with the door open! I couldn’t find an actual picture. His is silver.
I’ve mentioned I have a 1987 Land Cruiser, but I would love a 1976 Cherokee, complete with the Indian Head decal.
Are you a car girl? Do you drive down the street and know what kind of car everyone has? What’s your dream car?

I love cars but when I go down the street identifying them it's to practice my insurance knowledge mostly. It helps me if I know what a car looks like so I can write/adjust policies correctly. Now I'm going to start doing that with houses and valuable personal property (jewels and stuff) because I'm about to start writing those types of policies also.
Now, my dream car is either a '74 Corvette with T-tops or a brand-new Aston Martin DB9 (the new James Bond car).
I'm not such a car hound, but I appreciate a nice car. You're likely to make fun of me, but if I could have a brand new anything, I'd get a hybrid, probably a Civic. What can I say? It's the greenie, tree hugger in me coming out. :)
It's cool to fit cars to characters though and have them feel right. Like Dean's Impala in Supernatural -- justs feels right. YA author Stephenie Meyer has a spot on her Web site called "Cullen cars" -- which shows pictures of all the cars her vampire family drives in Twilight. Very cool.
I'm not picky. My own, fixed up and brushed up. But for some reason my heroines often drive Jaguars...
I'm not a car girl, but I sure married a car guy. I do like the old muscle cars, especially the GTOs.
Ooh, Corvette!!
I have to admit, usually the sportscars I'm not that good at, but I love me a Corvette!
Trish, Mercury is making hybrids now, too!
Mary Beth, my dh is so NOT a car guy. I'm the odd one.
I have a hero who collects vintage muscle cars. I remember them well from my teens. I won't tell you how fast we drove back then. Me and a friend left for Florida in Mach I Mustang. It was the middle of the night and we never went under a hundred miles an hour. I look back and wonder how we all survived. Actually, one didn't. A really cute guy who drove a Chevelle got killed.
Dixie Belle, funny you should post about the Mach 1 Mustang. The heroine in the book I just read (Rachel Caine's Ill Wind) had one named Delilah. Later, she was driving a Viper named Mona. The girl loves power.
Dixie, wow! A definite need for speed there - scary. I don't drive slow, but 80 mph scares me, can't imagine 100!
Trish, I saw the Rachel Cain book cover on your blog, with the car, and I would have picked it up just for that!
I'm a total car ho (who sadly is stuck driving a Saturn)
Amie, I am with you. Though my Scion gets much better gas mileage than any of these babies!
